Umm...I've just made this sentence and I want to know if it's correct:
"What kind of kids is Aoi-chan friends with?" Or, should it be: "What kind of kids are Aoi-chan friends with?" <-- that's what MS Word said. XD

I have a strong feeling it's the second sentence because 'friends' is plural meaning you should use 'are' instead of 'is'. And dood, why are you doubting MS Word? D:<
Jokes. ^_^;;

Dood, why are you trusting MS Word? xD It's not right all the time. I don't trust it, I trust myself *nod nod* for random spelling typos I trust it, but for grammar... well usually I don't need to, so when it tells me something is wrong I can say "lol no." and move on :P Several times it has corrected a sentence my uncle had typed and kept saying it was wrong. The second time it suggested it change it back to what it originally said O_o which is obviously not right either apparently, but it's fine D: stupid Word.
But uh, yep. Plural uses "are" If you substitute "kids" with "children" it sounds better with are, and they're pretty much the same.

Technically it should be, "With what kind of kids is Aoi-chan friends?" But hardly anyone says that, I suppose.
And I believe it is 'is', because kind is a single noun. You wouldn't say, "Aoi are friends with girls." Even though there's a plural noun in there. Say the sentence Word suggested slowly. Just sounds damn wrong.

Totally what I was thinking, so I thought it should be "is". Ahh...English is really confusing. Thank you everyone for the replies!

I pronounce it as "beri" but I think it's a Midwest thing. -shrug-
(Midwest as in iowa, illinois, wisconsin, etc. :])
