Forbidden:

No personal topics (= topics that are intended only for discussion between certain members).

No trolling.
No double-posting.
No cross-posting (posting the same topic on multiple boards).
No meaningless reply such as "lol", "wut", "sup", "omg", and its variants.

Ignore the spammers, please.


Guidelines for moderators

Moderators should take the laissez-faire approach and encourage discussion between community members. Freedom of speech is good, as long as they stay within the specified boundaries (e.g. no flame wars or harassment).

Lock threads only when absolutely necessary --
for example, when a topic has become a flame war.
For other issues, e.g. "how to unblock kupika", even though the issue seems to be resolved at the time, do not lock the topic. This is to allow for possible future discussions. We never know.

Locked threads should stay in their original board --
because, once locked, a thread cannot be replied to, and it will be moved down the Topic List fast. Thus locked threads will not clutter the forum.

No modification/deletion of any threads/posts --
unless absolutely necessary, what has been written shall remain written.
The only exceptions are:
- p0rn0graphic/sexual content
- personal information being posted in public (remove the info but leave the post)
- blatant spam (e.g. advertising other web sites or products)

Dead threads currently houses split topics and off topic posts that I think people can learn from. So far it's only been basic roleplayers vs intermediate/advanced, though, and someone deleted the PRIME example that I was extremely happy to keep there so it doesn't happen again.

(It happened again btw)

Then the board should not be named "Dead Threads"...

It should be named something like "This Is Wrong" or something like that, to serve as examples of what's bad.

But, then again, I don't think a dedicated board is necessary for such purpose. For roleplaying you can make a sticky thread giving some examples of behaviors that are not allowed. Based on the rules above, people should be able to tell which behavior is OK and which not.

Having an "empty" board for a long time will give a dead look to the forum.


Maybe we are different because we are still new and have not experienced what those other forums have

Hmm, good question.

Trolling -> flame war -> lock the thread
Double-posting -> merge the post
Cross-posting -> move the thread
Meaningless reply -> edit the post, add a note that such reply is not appreciated, but leave the original post intact

The idea is: we shall never repress members' freedom to say what they want, so whatever they have written shall remain.
(unless they violate the rules of course, action to which I have described above)
