Yes, corruption is really killing Philippines. There are many street children who wants to study but they can't because they're poor and can't afford even the public schools. Senators / President / other rich people keep on getting richer and richer and seem to not care about the country. They're at their place to fulfill their job and make the country better, not to make themselves rich.

Anyway, I think I'll also put a banner....especially on forum signatures.

Hina is correct, I certainly didn't mean any offence by saying that. Was I incorrect to use the term "3rd world country"? The official website renders it as "the developing world". Is this a less offensive term to use? ^^;

There is a quote I like on the official website: "standing still is a reliable recipe for going backward". So, while there may be okay education right now, if it's not improved the situation can become worse. I think both the Phillipines and Indonesia may benefit from the scheme; I didn't see those countries listed on the website, but I saw Thailand, which I guess is pretty close, in terms of location and education standards? :|

That's not really true. . .
I'm Filipino, and whenever I go back to visit, I visit my cousin's school. Some of them are pretty nice.
Sure, maybe the schools aren't the cleanest places, but their education is still really good.
If you go over there, the students ALL try hard to get into a College so they can have a nice future. Most study to be a nurse.
But if you compare how hard kids work in the Philippines to the United States or Canada, the kids in the Philippines work harder.
When I went there, it was their lunch time. They were all still studying and they were barely eating their food.
Here, for lunch time, nobody does that. Some kids here don't even care about their future. Half my class are straight 30-50 students. Same with my friends' schools.
But when I talk to my cousin in the Philippines, she says that everyone there is a straight 80-90 student.
She also brought home homework one day. She's older than I am, but in 7th grade currently. But when she brought home her homework, I didn't understand it at all. It was so confusing.

So I wouldn't exactly say that the education there is horrible.

Yes, thank you Sanyu for pointing it out.

Please read what I said in context:
I can speak for Indonesia, I believe it is even more "3rd world" than Philippines, and the education here is Horrible. Yes, really horrible.
