Default Do you jaywalk?

Do you jaywalk in your country?
Sanyu and I were talking about this.

In England we cross on red lights all the time. Or just on any road. I hear that in other countries this isn't so.

I used to when I lived in Iowa and had to walk alone.. Now I'm too afraid to. I guess it doesn't really make a different with all the crazy drivers nowadays, though. Them and their.. drive-bys.

In Australia it is illegal to cross when the crossing man is red, but.. eh. I cross anyway :P At LEAST half way. Usually if he's flashing red you can make it half way and then just wait for a break in the traffic to go the rest of the way.

What part?

I ONLY cross when the handsome little walking man is red IF there is absolutely no one coming, and I know there is no one coming. Other than that, I wait 'cuz my Mommy taught me to.

I had a man in a Hedgehogcostume teach me how to cross. XD

& I'm going to answer this - even though I live in England - I just cross anywhere, seriously I just step out and hope I don't get run over. (: I normally end up running across because of a bike/car etc. completely the wrong way to cross but meh, it keeps me happy.

I, however, do sometimes use the crossing but there aren't enough where I live so I just end up pressing the button & giving up because they take too long or just having to cross anywhere because there aren't any crossings. (:

So yes, I jaywalk - it's how I cross. XD

Wait, just found this:
Singapore
Singapore has arguably the harshest punishment for jaywalking. First offenses may go for up to SGD 500 (USD 370), as well as up to three months in jail. Repeat offenders may receive a SGD 2000 fine, and up to five to six months imprisonment
The heck?!

In the Philippines, jaywalking is illegal, but other people (including me and my family) do it anyway. XD Even on highways. >_< Especially when we're in a hurry.

In Japan...well, on the place I live, no one jaywalks. (Err...I think this doesn't have anything to do with jaywalking but I've seen a video, it was taken in Tokyo, and even though the traffic lights were at red and a LITTLE CHILD...about 5 or 6 was crossing the road, a truck continued passing and boom...it hit the poor child. >_<)

What, really? I don't remember the Phil much but wow. I guess that was wise though since all these crazy cyclists are all zooming around.

LOL YES. I don't know if there's even a law about it here...

I only use crossings in certain places where I know I could die if I try to cross the road. Otherwise, I just run across and it's fine. :P Actually, a lot of drivers stop and let you pass if they see you standing, waiting to cross.

Default Jaywalking.

I live in Ireland and no one cares, if they see an opening, they cross.
Unless you're somewhere really busy and dangerous, most people press the button. Unless you're insane.
I'm the sane kind.
