Actually, I agree with you all. English isn't my native language so my grammar isn't that great. I'm not even good using my own language.
Back to topic.. I skimmed your long paragraphs and I agree with you all fully. I once put a Filipino sentence in my profile to try and keep people guessing. It fun but it disturbed me nonetheless. I speak in complete sentences and letters when I text. I once read a sentence because of the utter use of "txt tlk" I sometimes use abbreviations. But not up to the point when I use "u" or "y" or "4" I agree that people need to learn the English language more, now that technology is everywhere. I agree with everyone so far.

Thank you! Haha, I have to admit that I didn't become a member of an english/world wild chat site bafore I turned 13 and that was beacuse 1. My english was Really bad and I was ashamed of it (My english is still very bad, I know, but now I'm not ashame anymore 'cauze english isn't my native language so I have an excuse for my spelling mistakes XD)
and 2, I tried to speak with a person from the US when I was younger, but he used so much slang that I bearly understood anything of what he said. >.<' I know it's really strenuous to write in proper english, when I talk my native language I write in accent and that is Much harder to understand for both foreingers and for other ppl in my country than if I just wrote in slang. But it's beacuse everyone else writes in their accents and my language is so damn split up that it's such a big diffrense in proper writing and speaking and it's much easyer to write in accent beacuse then you don't have to use so many words. But when you talk to a foreinger who's trying their best to understand you and is trying to learn your language, writing properly would be Very kind of you and you wouldn't have to explain things when your friend don't understand you. But shorternings can be OK sometimes. Like, I'm glad I learned the "omg", "ppl", "wtf", "ftw" and so one bacause they are so common. Not only in english, people from other countries uses the too. But there is still times when I decide to quit talking to some people just because they use so much slang that I bearly understand a word >.< Having english as your secound language doesn't mean you're good at it. I hope everyone knows how hard it is to learn another language and that's what we're trying to do. Even if everyone study english in Europe, you'll notice diffrenses in the level of speaking english if you go to diffrente european countries. And the level of speaking is also diffrente dipending on who you're talking to. It's bacause a lot of countries think it is Much more importante to know your own language than learn a diffrente one so they aren't very serious when they study english, and some ppl are better thn others, that's just a fact. So you don't have to think thateveryone in my country is really bad at english just because mine sucks and you can't assume that people in Spain is really good at it just because you talk to one from spain who's really ood at it >.<

I only use "text-talking" when I am actually texting but I do correct people when they don't spell right or use the correct English grammar....it drives me nuts! I really hate it when I look at somebody's profile and it says:
my name is rachel, i like 2 sk8tbrd i hav 2 cats ones name is george and the other is weston i liek icecream i like rap n' r&b i hav a bf named thomas... GROWL I hate it so much! |

Yet ANOTHER reason, for you "writers" out there.
I've noticed too that a lot of people who like good grammar don't like talking to people who don't care and use bad grammar/spelling on purpose. If you don't care that you're limiting your potential friend scope by doing something completely pointless as being an illiterate idiot (on purpose) then I think there is something seriously wrong and you should see a shrink in case you are prone to anti-social behavior so it can be diagnosed early. That, or you don't belong on a friend site anyway
