Lol, might as well reply to this since the thread just got randomly bumped.

Should they? 'Trained'? As you know from reading the other thread, I'll be moving out to (hopefully) Swansea/Abertawe on my own soon. Now, I'm sure I'll do fine and have a great time. Is this because I've been 'trained' by my mother to do things? Absolutely not! Literally all the cooking I can do is because I figured it out as I went along, made my own recipes or read it in a book/on the internet.
Why is this an advantage over being 'trained'? Think about it. I don't know about the US, but in universities here, it's nothing like school. And it's pretty far removed from college as well. (College is our 16-18 optional education.) School is absolutely spoonfeeding students. And although college study is very independent in comparison, university studying is far, far more so. For every hour of lectures, many, many more hours are required for independent study.

So considering the fact that the students, when they move out, will have to adapt to figuring out things on their own and learning independently in their studies, why should this be any different in their daily lives? I think a person who is still relying on spoonfed information is a far greater 'failure in life', compared to someone who's figured it out on their own and made their own way in life. Sorry, I just had to tl;dr make a point about that.

I could do with a crash course on the DO NOT DO's of moving out at least :P and some tips.. I haven't picked much of anything up while living in this house (some baking, some handwashing, cooking I've learned online but haven't tried much of, umm.. maybe there are some obvious things I don't consider having picked up O:-]), for reasons I'm not going to go into. I'm sure I'd be able to adapt while moving out, but though I mostly like to learn via trial and error myself, I could do with some background on things I don't know anything about. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has these gray areas =[

Yes, our generations are getting dumber, this person is just a bad example.
Not all children and idiots who only have 5IQ.
So maybe you should stop "flaming" Children, we're young, we have still to learn.
Isn't that why we're children, not Adults.
